I seem to be having trouble while using a PS4 controller as an external controller.
I have been using this same controller on the ship simulator extreme without issues.
First of all when i press the refresh button in the below screenshot the wireless controller shows up in the list but within 2 seconds the controller disappears from the list.
After constantly pressing the refresh button many times it finally stopped disappearing. When i go out of this menu and go back to this setting the troubles starts all over again.
Secondly, i see there is no option to set precision controls which are really needed when using a controller. Mainly i noticed that it is only possible to use the yoke/thumbsticks on the ps4 controller as controls for the steering and the propulsion.
What is strange on the keyboard the controls are precision controls. (Tapping Up-Key once increases power by one step). I would really appreciate when i push my thumb stick forward and then release it, it does not go from zero to 100% and then back to zero. It should remain in the set position. This would also work well with vision controls.
Aside from that it should be able to use the buttons on the controller for increasing/decreasing the propulsion instead of the thumbstick for accuracy. (Thumbsticks are very sensitive.)
In my situation i would use the left arrow keys on the PS4 controller for the portside propulsion and the triangle, circle, quare and x as the controls for the starboard side propulsion. L1, R1, L2, R2 as bow/stern thrusters. This works well for a vessel where u can control both rudders separately (Like an Azimuth).
Or i have a better Idea (See last screenshot) a mini version of the azi controls and conventional propulsion like your portable simulator with a usb connection?
