Dear NAUTIS Home Team,
As an avid follower of the development journey of NAUTIS Home and someone who has contributed to maritime and offshore safety simulations, I appreciate the transparency and vision laid out in your roadmap. I understand the importance of staying focused on immediate priorities to achieve the successful launch of NAUTIS Home 1.0.
With this in mind, I want to preface my suggestion by acknowledging that what I'm about to propose may not align with current priorities, and its feasibility remains uncertain. However, based on my experience, I believe it could be beneficial to at least consider it for future discussions.
The inclusion of a multiplayer feature in the post-1.0 phase opens up exciting possibilities for enhancing the realism and depth of NAUTIS Home simulations. One aspect that could further enrich this multiplayer experience is the potential integration of VTS operators, adding an authoritative or oversight dimension to the simulations.
In previous projects I've advised on, integrating such roles often proved challenging if not considered early in the development process. Developers frequently expressed that knowing about these potential features in advance would have allowed them to design the system with placeholders or foundational elements, making later additions less cumbersome.
While I'm not certain whether a VTS operator role will ever be on the table as a potential addition to NAUTIS Home, I recommend discussing whether it might be wise to include such considerations in the foundational planning. This is not to suggest diverting resources from current priorities, but rather to potentially save time and effort in the future should such features become desirable.
Your commitment to building a comprehensive and immersive maritime simulation experience is commendable, and I believe that even a small provision for future expansions could greatly benefit the platform in the long run.
Thank you for your dedication to the development of NAUTIS Home. I look forward to its continued evolution and the exciting features it will bring to the maritime simulation community.
