Hello,
The is more of a feedback note/ question to the developers.
I played the Ship Simulator games when I was younger and I am sure they are partly responsible for my now 10 year career at sea! So I was delighted when I noticed an add for a new V-step ship simulator. I have had a quick go on a few of the vessels and am hopeful given this is an early access. Obviously trying to control the more hands on systems such as azipods etc, is very tricky with just the mouse but that's to be expected as such systems are not designed to be mouse controlled!
However, and this is the main point I'm raising. The pilot vessel, which is jet propelled is completely unrealistic. It does not respond at all as a real jet vessel would do (acting more like a crazy propeller powered speed boat!). I have tried to make it crab "go sideways" but it simply will not respond correctly, I have been driving twin and quad jet vessels nearly 3 years now for a living so hopefully I know how to make them go where I want aha.
My question/ concern is, will these handling characteristics undergo a major overhaul to provide a realistic simulation level experience of the real system or will the functions remain like an arcade style?
Also the ECDIS is very low definition (almost unusable in narrow channels) and there is no bearing indicator on the radar display? High definition navigation displays, spot soundings on charts/ contours would go a long way to making this more of a simulator and less an arcade experience.
I look forward to seeing the progress over the next 6 months and decided whether to renew my subscription! A good ship sim is well overdue!
Thanks
