Here is a few tips for people with no Azipod Experience
In order to turn correct you need to think opposite
Turn to STBD: Put the levers to PORT
Turn to PORT: Put the levers to STBD
Be aware of very quick response, use small degree to begin with when exicuting turn.
Never go negative RPM in order to stop, Instead put the pods opposite way 180 degrees on both
To maintain low speed go in 60 on both pods, depends on if you want to go astern or ahead
Neutral on the pods is in 90 on both pods, (Pointing to the skid, center) - The ship is drifting in this configuration with no control since its facing each other
When alongside keep the pod on the oppsite side of the pier in 90 and the other to maintain position
To gain best turning put one pod in 120 and the other out 60, depends on direction of your turn or as it is called tandem turn where it looks like a smily face.
Avoid maneuvering which makes the pods water flush hitting the other, in real life it causes vibrations and can in worst case destroy or damage the pod, If you have to move over the flush zone use less than 30 rpm
Limit for avoiding flush is 150 degrees on both pods
Reduce RPM before increasing the other if needed
